Let's give glass a second life

Our philosophy is based on the reuse, transformation, enhancement, and reinvention of glass containers. The goal is to create unique furnishing accessories; unlike recycling, which aims to recreate the same object through an expensive use of thermal and mechanical energy, reuse transforms a product into another or several finished products with added value, without excessive energy consumption, thanks to both the uniqueness of the original object and the artisan's creativity.

What we do

Following the decision to undertake this project, we conducted research and various tests on bottles by cutting them using the diamond tip scoring method followed by thermal shock. After making some samples, however, we realized that the prototypes did not respond well to stress; they broke easily during daily use, washing, handling, and minor accidental impacts. We therefore opted for cutting with water-cooled diamond discs, achieving excellent results. The cut only requires the edges to be beveled, otherwise they are sharp, and polishing to obtain a quality effect comparable to a commercial product.

Selection of raw materials

One of the key points for the success of projects is certainly the selection of materials; for example, not all wine bottles are the same—some have thicker glass than others. Using bottles with thin glass can compromise the result. Likewise, choosing original and non-standard containers allows for excellent aesthetic results, as these already have their own native character.

Enhancement and uniqueness

The mere selection of products with their own intrinsic value does not always meet our expectations, so we decided to

use the technique of hand engraving with rotating diamond tips to give some objects greater appeal and to guarantee the buyer a unique piece. The decision was considered for a long time but in the end prevailed over other methods deemed too anonymous, such as acid etching or sandblasting. Hand engraving has, in perspective, a high artistic value and can develop to reach very high standards that go far beyond the uniformity of a shape subjected to sandblasting or acidification. The possibility of using different tips and polishing stones allows for the creation of chiaroscuro, opacity, shine, reflections...
